Topmop Donuts Review

Responsibilities and the need to buy the essentials (aka adulting) made me — the girl who prefers watching anime at home over exploring malls — go outside today. It’s a good thing I did too because I saw this new donut shop at SM City Ecoland. It’s called Topmop Donuts and I love it!

I just bought one actually, because it’s the new year and you know how new year’s resolutions go during the first week — we try to keep them, until we realize once more that life is meant to be lived so we stop lying to ourselves and get back to our usual routine.

Anyway, I bought one of the Topmop Donuts’ bestsellers: tiramisu filled donuts and let me tell you, it’s good. Unlike most of the donut bread (do you call it bread? What do you call a cooked donut dough?) that I’ve tried, it’s not at all airy, nor is it hard. Topmop Donut’s bread (I shall call it bread) tastes a lot like the loaf you can buy from Bread Talk which I love: a little hard on the outside, soft, moist, and a bit heavy on the inside.

The topping’s pretty normal — white chocolate with a few other sweet things— but the filling made me want to break my new year’s resolution even though it’s still the first week of January! I mean I haven’t tried their other flavors yet, but their tiramisu is pretty good and I can really taste the coffee (I miss coffee so much, I haven’t had a cup since three weeks ago). So, yeah, the tiramisu filling is just perfect.

Will I buy again? Yes, certainly. If it’s not yet obvious from the stuff I’ve written above, I’ll say it again: I love it! If you haven’t tried this place yet, and if you want to try it — which I recommend you do — Topmop Donuts is on the first floor of SM City Ecoland, Davao City.
