Feeling Blue? Try Watching These Feel Good Movies

Although we want to live in a world full of rainbows, unicorns and cotton candy clouds, that’s not always the case. There are days when you just feel plain old sad. You know that all familiar feeling of gloominess seeping into the very marrow of your bones — you feel down (sometimes you know why, other times you don’t) and you just want to spend the whole day sleeping. Don’t let this feeling consume you. Find some fun ways to replenish your good vibes. There are tons of ways to do this! You can spend time with friends, workout or you can watch these feel-good movies.

Legally Blonde

I am a huge fan of happy chick flicks and Legally Blonde is one of my ultimate favorites. Legally Blonde is about a really girly sorority girl — Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) — who entered law school with the intention of rekindling the love between her and her fiancĂ©. This movie shows us that it doesn’t always work out the way we want, but the outcome can be so much better than what we’ve hoped for. It all depends on how we respond to the challenges.

I love Elle Woods. She’s pretty, she’s stylish, she’s smart and she doesn’t just wait for things to happen. She makes things happen. The way she immerses herself in work and the way she transforms the world around her into a glittery pink wonder is fantastic. It will surely cheer you up.

Letters to Juliet

I couldn’t count the number of times I’ve watched this movie and it never fails to make me feel good. It starts with Sophie, a fact finder who dreams of becoming a writer and her journey to fair Verona where she meets the secretaries of Juliet, the woman who went back to Verona in search of her first love and the man who will make her fall in love.

Letters to Juliet has that charming love story vibe that I just love about love stories. It’s got beautiful sceneries of fair Verona, a heartwarming plot, amazing actors and actresses — Amanda Seyfried (Sophie) and Christopher Egan (Charlie) are so perfect together! — and characters that will stay in your heart forever.

The Holiday

Christmas movies are always a sure win when it comes to feel-good vibes. The Holiday shows us the story of two women — Iris (Kate Winslet), a columnist in London and Amanda (Cameron Diaz), a business executive in LA. Both were suffering from romantic disappointments. To get away from the heartache, Iris finds a website where people can exchange homes for a few days and contacts Amanda. The two exchange homes during the Christmas holidays, heal their broken hearts and learn to live and to love again.

This movie will give you warm fuzzies. It’s perfect for a cold night and is best paired with a cup of hot cocoa. It’s one of my all-time favorites and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of watching it.

Austenland

Fans of Jane Austen would love this movie! Imagine a theme park designed to resemble the setting of a Jane Austen romance novel, where you get to experience living in the Regency era for a few days (Complete with costume!). Sounds awesome, right? Jane Hayes (Keri Russel) is a woman in her thirties who is obsessed with Jane Austen’s works. She goes to a dream vacation to Austenland only to find that it’s not how she hoped it would be. Nevertheless, the experience gains her friends, a reality wakeup call and a shot at true love.

Austenland is a light, feel-good movie that’s great to watch anytime, any day. It has a beautiful story that you’d want to experience over and over again.
